Lindsay Gray 1985 - 2007

The Incredible Legacy of Lindsay House

On January 25, 2007, Lindsay Gray of Drayton Valley was moving home from Calgary to prepare for a trip to Africa to volunteer with the Kenya Orphanage Program for two months.

Tragically, Lindsay's dream of working with the African orphanage was cut short when she was killed in a fatal motor vehicle accident that day.

Memorial funds poured in when people heard Lindsay's story, and an account was set up through the Drayton Valley Community Foundation. A proposal was made to the Gray Family to donate the funds to complete a school and office space being built for the Irente Orphanage in Lushoto, Tanzania.

This proposal was presented to the Lushoto Community Foundation and they gladly accepted, renaming the new building "Lindsay House' in honour of this incredibly caring young woman.

The interior walls and exterior trim are painted Lindsay's favorite colour - Pink. Lindsay's parents, Dean and Susan Gray, placed a memorial plaque in Lindsay House when they visited Lushoto in 2008.

Along with family and friends, the Gray family and their business, Earth and Iron Inc., continue to support Lindsay House, the Irente Orphanage, the Orphanage for the Blind, and the Lushoto Community through personal and corporate donations. Read more about the Lindsay Gray story here.
